i've been thinking about this for a long time; making a record that's based around the snaps, crackles and pops found in the loop at the end of a vinyl record that keeps spinning and spinning and spinning until you tell it to stop. i often find myself not wanting to hit the stop button because there are some very interesting rhythms in there that i've fallen in love with.
one such loop forms the foundation of each song but is processed to bring out different things. the rest of the song is built from samples recorded from the same record as the loop - often tiny snippets of sound that are stretched and screwed with and made pretty much unrecognizable; tabla and bells turn into kick drums, voices into strange rhythmic devices, plucked strings into ambient drones.
